zuma > Surfrider Sunrise. I have spent years waking up before dawn to look out my window in the pre dawn light to judge wether or not I want to drive down to the beach and try to catch a sunrise shot. On this morning as I looked out at about 4:00am it did'nt look like much but I remember telling myself "if you want to be a landscape photographer first and foremost you have to be there! So as I am walking down the beach laughing at myself for picking another endeavor that has me up before dawn. I noticed this pattern of water in the sand, I have surfed for 42yrs and have never seen the beach sand form like this at surfrider. I set up and waited in the freezing down canyon offshore wind and was rewarded with this shot. PS. By the next day the waves had pushed the sand back to its normal pattern.
zuma > Lone kayaker enjoys the solitude as the sunrises above the fog as thousand race by on PCH during their daily commute to work.
zuma > Leo Carrillio sunrise. A wave explodes off the rock as a surfer goes by. The reflection in the water on the beach was only possible after a long series of storms during the wettest winter in southern Ca. in over 100yrs.

zuma > Promise. Promise of the comming day. Thornhillbroom beach looking south from Super tubes. On my way to work I was racing to beat sunrise and try to make it around the corner to Leo Carillio to shoot some morning shots. I had to just pull over and come to skidding stop sidways on the shoulder and jumped out just in time to catch this image the light and color lasted only seconds before going flat!
